With the weather warming up, everyone’s breaking out their grills and having barbecues and picnics. It’s fun to get together to eat and enjoy the fresh air. But get-togethers often usually mean lots of trash and pollution.
Here are some tips for having a “green” gathering, whether outdoors or indoors, from Chinet (which I was surprised is actually a “green” product):
- Send invitations via email rather than traditional printed invites
- Check out flea markets and secondhand stores for party décor
- Serve food on disposable tableware, like Chinet, made of 100% pre consumer recycled material and biodegradable in home compost
- Create a menu using local, organic produce; for great recipes, go to www.mychinet.com/recipes
- Use reusable towels for clean up and biodegradable trash bags
- Compost leftover party food and Chinet tableware
Keep these in mind for your next get together and then you can enjoy it with a clear – and green – conscience.
PS: Watch out for today’s final winner of our Earth Day Giveways, who will win a complete setting from Chinet
