Earth Day, celebrated on April 22nd, is a day set aside for everyone who cares about the planet. Every day, we are becoming more aware of the affects of our habits on the earth. As we strive to keep our eco-system intact; and keep our rainforests from being destroyed; there is much we can do as individuals. Teaching your child about Earth Day is a good first step, as they will be learning habits and attitudes from what we do.teach a child about earth day
It is important to explain to your kids what Earth Day represents, and what you do as a family – not just one day, but every day can slow the damage we are doing to the environment.

If you love to cook, there’s nothing more satisfying than stepping out of the kitchen and into an herb garden to pick your own fresh herbs. Essential ingredients in recipes from around the world, herbs awaken our our palates and appetites with the flavor, character and aromas they add to any dish.
In addition to culinary herbs, aromatic herbs can be grown for their scent and used in oils, candles and home made toiletries and potpourri. Medicinal herbs have been used since ancient times to prevent or ease many ailments from bug bites to digestive problems. Ornamental herbs not only look great in the garden, but can be added to floral arrangements and wreaths.
Is a Vegetarian Diet for Kids Healthy and Safe?

If you’re considering raising your child on a vegetarian diet, you’re no doubt aware of strong debate questioning the safety and healthfulness of vegetarian diets. While studies have concluded that vegetarians are least likely to develop diseases as opposed to their counterparts, there is some concern as to whether or not children will receive the appropriate nutrients they need on a daily basis or proper growth and development. The evidence seems to point to raising children vegetarian being a good choice for them.
Some health care providers have observed that the consumption of protein and iron can be adequate when consumed via whole grains, dried fruit and nuts and nut butters. Vegetarians show lower rates of cardiovascular disease, obesity and specific types of cancers in most studies.
