One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to use ear plugs when you're in a very loud environment. Have yearly checkups with an audiologist

While it’s true that an audiologist is a specialist, you don’t have to get a referral through your GP. Instead, you can book appointments for yourself and your family directly. Ideally, you should go to a hearing health clinic once a year. Usually, an annual checkup is more than enough unless you’re over the age of 50. This is something that you should not neglect, and this is one of the biggest mistakes that are made. Remember, your hearing health is just as important as all of the other aspects of health!

Turn down the volume on your electronic devices

This is something that everyone is guilty of, and it’s something that needs to be put to a stop. The best way to maintain healthy hearing is by turning down the volume. Noise-induced hearing loss is the most common cause of preventable hearing loss, and it's on the rise. This can be due to long-term exposure to excessive noise levels or short-term exposure to very loud noise. This is especially more apparent when it comes to children, too, as they love blasting up the volume. Make sure you keep an eye on them and yourself, as this could be a surefire way to damage eardrums.

Clean your ears regularly

This also includes your children too. Did you know that built-up earwax can cause hearing issues as well as tinnitus? These are two things that you’re going to want to avoid. So, one of the best ways to stay on top of your hearing health is to clean your ears every couple of days to ensure there isn’t any built-up earwax inside.
